Who I Am

"It is open to every man to choose the direction of his striving, and every man may take comfort from the fine saying that the pursuit of truth is more precious than its possession."

- Albert Einstein

Hello! My name is Jacob, and I have a passion for learning how the world works. Most of my interest is in STEM-related fields, but almost anything can capture my imagination. My most important goal in life is to have fun, and one of my favorite feelings is using my imagination and creativity towards solving a really difficult problem.

So far on my journey, I have obtained two degrees in physics, and am a currently pursuing a doctorate in robotics. Along the way, I have picked up a number of skills that range from theory (physics has prepared me well), software (Matlab, python and C++) and hardware (soldering, micro-controllers), not to mention the soft skills need to successfully pursue academic research (e.g., effective communication and presentation). This gives me a well-rounded ability to understand and tackle almost any problem I choose to solve.

Whatever I do, I strive to enjoy my work and appreciate the nuances and complexities in this life we are given. I am grateful for the opportunities afforded to me, and honor this gift by perpetually working towards finding the truth that can often elude us. I try my best not to let my ego hold me back when I am wrong. I do not care about being right, I only care about finding the truth.
